For the time being no discipline brings joy, but seem grievous and painful; but afterwards it yields a peaceable fruit of righteousness to those who have been trained by it [a harvest of fruit which consists in righteousness- in conformity to God's will in purpose, thought, and action, resulting in right living and right standing in God].
Hebrews 12:11
An undisciplined person looks for ways to avoid hard work. Passivity prevails in our culture; everything is geared to making life easier: ride the escalator, take the elevator, get fast food carry out. But the easy way is not always the best way.
Just as we need to exercise our bodies, so we need to exercise our faith by facing difficult challenges. Use faith to forgive others who offend you and to trust God when you can't see how problems will be solved. Soon you will enjoy a harvest of righteousness from the discipline you endure today.
I will admit it I am lazy. When it comes to cleaning the house, how little can I get away with doing. At that moment it seems like ok I get this done and I can do what I want to do and that is all I am going to do. The problem with that statement is it is all about me. What I want, what I do not want, me, me, me.....
But what about my hard working husband who is out in the heat all day long busting his behind so that I do not have to have a job. He does not want to come home to a house that I have barley lifted a finger to. He wants a clean house, and a good meal when he gets home so he can relax and enjoy the home he is working to pay for.
I am very blessed I do not have to work outside my home. I am going to do better, because my husband deserves better.
