2008......What a Ride it has Been.....Happy 2009

I was sitting here feeling sorry for myself because Steve has to work tonight. When midnight hits I can only cuddle my Princess. If she is not already asleep. I got to thinking about it and I have nothing to feel sorry for myself about. 2008 has been a great year.

  • We got our own home, when so many people are losing theirs.

  • We have not lost one person in our family.

  • My Dad made it through another year, there was a point where we were not sure if he would make it through 2007.

  • Steve has finally found a good job that he likes. It took a couple of tries, but he is now a happy little camper.

  • We have gotten right with the Lord.

  • We got to see an African American elected president. I may not agree with his politics, but he is still a history making president.

  • Gas prices soared to new heights then dropped like a rock.( Thank You Lord)

  • We have found a church family that is awesome.

  • Steve and I's relationship is stronger and we are closer than we have ever been.

  • Mom and Dad living here and no major problems.( Thank You Lord)

  • We found our missing niece, who has had 2 boys in her years being away from the family.

Yes we have had our downs, but are highs outweigh those by so much

  • Mom winding up in the hospital 2 times.

  • Being thrown out of our duplex because it was foreclosed on. (That was how we started the new year)(Mind you we were renters!!)

  • Patty ending up in the hospital.

  • Steve being fired twice and quitting 2 other jobs.

Really those are all I can think of. Like I said the good more than out weighs the bad. I hope you all have a wonderful new year and please be safe. May God bless all of you this year. Here's to a great, safe, happy, healthy, and spiritual 2009!!!

Daily Devotion-Ministry Is Fulfilling Work

For you shall eat [the fruit] of the labor of your hands; happy (blessed, fortunate, enviable) shall you be, and it shall be well with you.

Psalm 128:2

There is nothing more fulfilling than being rested and ready for the work that God has called us to do. god puts the desire in us to minister to people through whatever work we do. But ministry is work that requires physical, emotional, and spiritual strength.

Hard work is rewarding when you follow God's way and minister to other people through "the labor of your hands." That is why it is so important to start your day with God. His presence will build you up emotionally, His words will strengthen you spiritually, and the time of rest that He calls you to enjoy will make you physically able to handle whatever comes your way.

Daily Devotion- Get Up and Work

And let the beauty and delightfulness and favor of the Lord our God be upon us; confirm and establish the work of our hands--yes, the work of our hands, confirm and establish it.

Psalm 90:17

It is obvious we are supposed to work more than rest. Some people just lie on the couch, eating junk food and watching television all day, and then wonder why their lives are a wreck.

Once rested, get up and work. You can not take authority over your life if you do not have authority over a sink full of dirty dishes or a messy garage. If you want to grow in ministry to others, the Word says you must get your own house in order first ( see 1 Timothy 3:5) Stay home and clean if you need to; but win the battle of getting your life in order before tackling the whole world.

Submission is not a Bad Thing, it is a God Thing

I am learning to be submissive to my husband. It is hard, but it has so many wonderful rewards. I honestly struggle with giving up control. I need to trust my husband to make the best decisions for us. I married him, obviously I trusted him, but I had to learn that he was trusting God to help him with the decisions he was making for us. I had to realize that Steve is submissive to God and I am submissive to Steve.

Until recently for the last 8 1/2 years that we have been married it was my job to pay the bills, keep up with the checkbook, and make sure there is enough money for us to make it through until the next paycheck arrives. I hated doing these things. I never knew if I was doing the right thing with our money. The money or really the lack of money caused many fights between Steve and I, even if it was something else we were fighting about, money lay at the root of it all. When we both started growing in the Lord, He made us see that we needed to change the dynamics of our marriage. Steve is the head, he is my leader, in all things. He makes the decisions. He pays the bills and keeps up with the checkbook. I no longer worry about what bills are due or if do we have enough to cover them all.

Now do not get me wrong, we are equal partners in our marriage. That is the way it is supposed to be. My opinions counts. When a decision needs to be made Steve comes and asks my opinion. He tells me how he sees it, and he prays about the decision. Then with all the info he has he makes the final decision. It is kinda funny, but it seems this way he listens to me more often than not. I think that reason is he gets to listen to my side and I listen to his side but there is fighting or yelling. Now if he does not make the decision I want him to make or if it turns out that was the wrong decision totally it is not my job to tell him " I told you so you should have listened to me." God will deal with him and help him see where he went wrong. My job as a wife is to encourage and support him at all times, no matter what happens. No, it is not easy, but with God's love and help you and I can do this.

Ladies, our husbands have so many pressures on their shoulders, we do not need to add to it. If you are really having an issue with your husband go to God first. Pray about it, ask Him for help. If you feel you need to confront your husband, please do it in love. If you have needed the garage cleaned up for ages instead of saying, "Honey go clean that messy garage out" say " Honey can you help me out? You are so good at organizing, could you figure out a system to organize the garage?" He will respond better because you asked for help, instead of issuing a command. Our husband get beat down by this world, their bosses, co-workers, family, and health issues. We need to be the ones to build them up. How long has it been since you told your husband how much you appreciate the hard work he does for your family? We need to be a safe haven of encouragement and support. Trust me, he knows when he has messed up. He has God as his head as our husbands are ours.

Being submissive does not mean we are a slave, or a doormat to be walked all over. If you really want a closer relationship with God start by serving Him. He will bless you for your faithfulness. God commanded that wives be submissive to their husbands. By your being submissive you are serving your husband. When you serve your husband, you serve God.

Wives, submit to your husbands as to the Lord. 23For the husband is the head of the wife as Christ is the head of the church, his body, of which he is the Savior.

Ephesians 5:21-23

Wives, be subject to your husbands [subordinate and adapt yourselves to them], as is right and fitting and your proper duty in the Lord.

Colossians 3:18

For this is the way the holy women of the past who put their hope in God used to make themselves beautiful. They were submissive to their own husbands

1 Peter 3:5

Daily Devotion- Get Rid of Distractions

That which is desired in a man is loyalty and kindness [and his glory and delight are his giving], but a poor man is better than a liar.

Proverbs 19:22

Sometimes you may just need to clear away the clutter so you can  clearly see what is worthwhile. Here is a simple suggestion: Do not keep more than you can take care of. If you have so much junk in your home that it takes you hours to dust it, get rid of something.

Find a big carton and write "Blessing Box" on the side of it. Start putting extra things into it until cleaning is more manageable. Find someone who does not have much and bless them. You will be amazed at how easy it is to start your day right when you are no longer distracted by things you do not need.

Daily Devotion- Let God Set Your Agenda

But this thing I did command them: Listen to and obey My voice, and I will be your God and you will be My people;

and walk in the whole way that I command you, that it may be well with you.

Jeremiah 7:23

Remember, you made your schedule, and you can change it. Pray about your day , your week, and your life goals to find out what God wants you to do.

If you do not do what God is telling you to do, you may let people control and manipulate you to do what they want you to do. You may end up doing things for which you are  not anointed. If you do what God tells you to do, He will bless you with joy, peace, rest, and wonderful relationships.

Daily Devotion-Move Forward

I do not consider, brethren, that I have captured and made it my own [yet]; but one thing I do [it is my one aspiration]: forgetting what lies behind and straining forward to what lies ahead, I press on.

Philippians 3:13-14

God will anoint you to do what He calls you to do. But when His anointing is gone, let it go. Get rid of the things that God's anointing was on at one time, but not on anymore. Do not keep doing the same thing because people expect you to.

I encourage you all to prune off all activities that fill your day but do not add to your life. Sometimes we hold on to assignments that God is finished with for us. Ask God for wisdom, then walk away from tasks He no longer is asking you to do. Make room for new life to flourish through  the work of your hands

Daily Devotion- Enjoy Yourself

There is nothing better for a man than that he should eat and drink and make himself enjoy good in his labor. Even this, I have seen, is from the hand of God.

Ecclesiastes 2:24

We all have things that must be done, but God wants us to enjoy our life's journey. If we are too busy, we will block the flow of what the Holy Spirit wants to do through us.

Busyness keeps us from being fruitful in the kingdom of God. God did not put us here just to work, strive, accumulate things, and become stressed out. He wants us  to enjoy Him and His creation.

Take time today to enjoy what God has given you. Enjoy your family, your home, and yourself today.

~My Husband Rocks~ Sharing Life

My husband in the last 24 hours has truly amazed me twice. God blessed me so much when He brought Steve into my life. My sister and I are not getting along so much right now, and it made Christmas a little awkward. When Steve said grace he stood up for me in a very positive and polite manner. I love having such a great man who is so supportive.

I have mentioned before our tradition of the teddy bears. Well I did not get one this year. Our money situation is tight and we just had more need of other things. I will admit I was disappointed those bears make me smile and bring me such joy as I bring them out year after year. Steve got a $30 dollar gift card from work and this morning he woke me up by stuffing a bear into my arms. He had stopped on his way home from work stood in line for Wally World to open and bought me the last bear with 2008 on its foot. He brought tears to my eyes. He is so thoughtful and loving. I am so grateful to GodChristmas Bear 08 for bringing Steve into my life.

Happy Birthday Jesus and Merry Christmas Everyone

glitter-graphics.com

Have a wonderful Christmas with your family. Remember, Jesus is the reason for the season.

Daily Devotion- Reenergize Yourself

Guide me in Your truth and faithfulness and teach me, for You are the God of my salvation; for You [You only and altogether] do I wait [expectantly] all the day long.

Psalm 25:5

If you are worn out all the time, it will affect your spiritual life because you will not want to pray, study the word, or walk on the fruit of the Spirit. If you are no longer sensitive to other people's needs, then you are not hearing from God.

If you are this tired, it is time to re-energize your life. Prune away the things that wear you out; do not try to do what you think everyone else is doing. Wait on God to lead you, and get the rest you need to enjoy your walk with Him.

Heads or Tails Tuesday- *Tails* This Time of Year

Photobucket

If you want to play along visit Heads or Tails

What I love about this time of year is families coming together. The memories created in whose ever kitchen we are cooking. My Sister and I giving Mom a hard time. Traditions past down year after year. Getting to sit around and talk to family you do not usually get to enjoy during the year. I love knowing that Jesus was born and died for us. He was not a pawn of destiney He was a disciple of obedience. He knew what His fate was, and He did it for us.

Daily Devontion- Rest and Renew

So then, there is still awaiting a full and complete Sabbath-rest reserved for the [true] people of God; For he who has once entered [God's] rest also has ceased from [the weariness and pain] of human labors, just as God rested from those labors peculiarly His own.

Hebrews 4:9-10

We all have gifts and talents far beyond what we use, but many of us are so worn out that we do not feel like doing anything.  Even God rested from all of his labors, not because He tired, but to enjoy His creation( see Genesis 2:1-3). Stop working all the time, and enjoy yourself.

Even the land needs to rest every several years to produce good crops. If you do not rest you are going to cut down your production and stifle your creativity. You do not have to work at God's plan for you.; He will cause it to come to pass ( see Philippians 1:6) Rest in Him.

Daily Devotion- Rest is God's Law

Let us therefore be zealous and exert ourselves and strive diligently to enter that rest [of God, to know and experience it for ourselves], that no one may fall or perish by the same kind of unbelief and disobedience [into which those in the wilderness fell].

Hebrews 4:11

Do not work so hard that you miss time with God. Rest is important for your spiritual and physical life. The need for rest can not be ignored; it is a law of God. Just like the laws concerning eating, sowing, and reaping, we can not break the principle of rest without paying the price of disobedience.

Paul sent Epaphroditus home saying that he came near death through working for Christ ( see Philippians 2:25-30), but God had mercy on him and spared his life. Find time to be still on a regular basis. It is in moments of rest that you are most likely to hear God speak to you.

Sick

I hate being sick. I can't quit coughing, my throat hurts, I am cold, I am tired so very tired, everything is really loud, and I hurt my body hurts. OK I  promise no more complaining.

We had our Christmas musical a week ago,  it went great. We had a full house on Sunday night.  Steve did great with his part. My pictures did not turn out like I hoped they would so no pictures. We had  the house to ourselves last week. Mom and Dad went to spend the week with Pa-Pa. It is was nice to have the house to ourselves. We haven't really been alone since August. Dad worked with Pa-P while they were there. Pa-Pa owns his own plumbing business. Dad was happy to be able to work a little. It has been crazy here weather wise. The begging of the week is really cold in the 20's or the teens  and by Wednesday or Thursday it is in the 60s. I really wish we would have a white Christmas. I do not believe I have ever seen one. Oh well I am tired I am going to rest. Keep Warm and God Bless

Daily Devotion - Quality Makes the Diffference

Beloved, let us love one another, for love is (springs) from God; and he who loves [his fellowmen] is begotten (born) of God and is coming [progressively] to know and understand God [to perceive and recognize and get a better and clearer knowledge of Him].

1 John 4:7

Sometimes we think that the busier we are, the more we are doing in the kingdom of God. But it is not how much we do, it is the quality of what we do that makes the difference. Most people will admit that they need to spend more of their time developing good relationships.

You can't be a good friend to somebody if you never put any time into your relationship. Ask God to bring someone to mind the He would like for you to bless today. Then follow through and let that person know that God brought them to your heart.

Daily Devotion-Take a Break

Return to your rest, O my soul, for the Lord has dealt bountifully with you.

Psalm 116:7

We all need a break in the action from time to time.  Resting  isn't just a good idea- it is a command of God: "Six days you shall do your work, but the seventh day you shall rest and keep Sabbath, that your ox and your donkey may rest, and the son of your bondwoman, and the alien, may be refreshed" ( Exodus 23:12) The Lord added that "even in plowing time and in harvest you shall rest [on the Sabbath]" ( Exodus 34:21)

That means that for one day a week we are to withdraw from common labor and to rest. Don't work that day even in the busy seasons. Dedicate that day to spending time with God, worshiping Him. Start your week off right by getting back to what is really important- honoring God.

Daily Devotion- Come Apart to Stay Together

And the effect of righteousness will be peace [internal and external], and the result of righteousness will be quietness and confident trust forever.

Isaiah 32:17

If you are feeling compelled to do so much that you are physically worn out, you may be driven instead of led. Remember, you have to come apart from a busy routine before you come apart from yourself. You have to get away from everything before you come apart psychically, mentally, and emotionally. Give yourself time to get a good night's sleep.

It is tempting to do everything that everybody else is doing, be involved in everything, know everything, hear everything, and be everywhere, but it isn't  God's best for you. Be willing to separate yourself from compulsive activity before you come apart at the seams! Spend time with God, and ask Him to give you order to your day.

Daily Devotion-Listen To God

Hear counsel, receive instruction, and accept correction, that you may be wise in the time to come.

Proverbs 19:20

You may wonder, "How do I know when to confront someone about an issue, and when to let it go?" If you are too eager to set someone straight, it may not be God motivating you. Correction must be done in love to build up the person and not to tear them down. Always pray and wait until you know what God wants you to do.

You must be led of the Spirit. If after prayer you still feel that you are to talk to someone about their behavior, be absolutely sure that you are doing it for their good and not yours. If it is what God has told you to do, you may not even want to do it, but it will be done as an act of obedience to Him. Whatever you do, do it in love.

Daily Devotion- Follow Jesus

All who keep His commandments [who obey His orders and follow His plan, live and continue to live,

to stay and] abide in Him, and He in them. [They let Christ be a home to them and they are the home of Christ.]

And by this we know and understand and have the proof that He [really] lives and makes His home in us:

by the [Holy] Spirit Whom He has given us.

1 John 3:24

Some people wanted to follow Jesus, but they were afraid they would be put out of the synagogue ( see John 12:42). Some people are still afraid to follow the Lord because they might be put of of their family, their groups, or even their church.

Eventually, there will only be one Person to face-God. You won't want Him to say," I had so much for you, but you did not receive to because you were to concerned about what other people thought; you were a people-pleaser."  Jesus was not swayed by men's opinions, threats, judgments, or criticisms. Follow Jesus, and enjoy life.

Daily Devotion-Be Christ's Bond Servent

Now the Lord is the Spirit, and where the Spirit of the Lord is, there is liberty (emancipation from bondage, freedom)

2 Corinthians 3:17

Paul said that he would not become the slave of anything or anyone but Jesus Christ:  "Everything is lawful for me, but I will not become the slave anything or be bought under it's power"( 1 Corinthians 6:12). He also said," If I had been trying to be popular with people, I would not now be a bond servant of the Lord Jesus Christ" ( see Galatians 1:10)

If you let other people control you, you will not fulfill the call of God on your life. If you let their rejection frighten you and change your focus, you won't do what God wants you to do. Be a slave only to God, and a servant to people on His behalf.

Daily Devotion- Start Something Good

For there shall the seed produce peace and prosperity; the vine shall yield her fruit and the ground shall give its increase and the heavens shall give their dew; and I will cause the remnant of this people to inherit and possess all these things.

Zechariah 8:12

Start something good in someone's life today. Sow faith for a healing. Sow hope for restoration. A sincere compliment can sow confidence in someone who is starving for encouragement. Your forgiveness of an ongoing offense can sow a seed for a miracle breakthrough in that situation.

Pray for someone else's need, or make a special offering to start something positive in the name of the Lord. Remember, God won't ask you to sow anything that He doesn't give you the grace to give. Enjoy the abundant harvest that is returned to your own life when you sow into someone else's life.

Daily Devotion- Start Something

[Let your] love be sincere (a real thing); hate what is evil [loathe all ungodliness, turn in horror from wickedness],

but hold fast to that which is good. Love one another with brotherly affection [as members of one family],

giving precedence and showing honor to one another.

Never lag in zeal and in earnest endeavor; be aglow and burning with the Spirit, serving the Lord.

Romans 12:9-11

If all of us started having a godly attitude, it would catch hold and spread like a virus. Wouldn't be great if we could spread a good virus?

Imagine the whispers: "Have you heard? There's something wonderful going around. Have you caught it? It is running rampant all over the place. Everywhere you look, people have new attitudes!"

Let's start something today! Let's decide to think like Christ. Let's decide to love everyone we meet today, and pass the word so that everybody catches on to it.

Sunday Night

When Steve left for his trip my Dad drove him to work cause we would have been without a vehicle for 3 days and that would have  not been a good thing. Mom and Dad's truck is on the fritz again. I think it is the ignition this time. When Steve got back in we all piled into the truck (it is a quad cab) and went to pick up Steve. We have a tradition every year of going through Prairie Lights and into Interlochen to look at the Christmas lights. We decide we were going to be in the area so we might as well go and see the lights. My mom and Dad have never been to either one, but Mom has always wanted to go see Interlochen. We also went to a little bar and grill to get something to eat. We had a blast. I have no pictures cause I left my camera at home. It is nice to get out once in a while and do something different. If you live in the Dallas area check out these places they are cool. Interlochen is free there is a lot of traffic but the houses are wonderful. Prairie Lights is $20 a car load. They have a little Christmas village you can get out and walk around, they have rides and the rides are free. It is a neat place to go see.

Happy Birthday William!!!!

Happy 14th Birthday William!!! Go easy on your Mom OK? Love you Will.

Daily Devotion-Accept Responsibility

Finally, brethren, farewell (rejoice)! Be strengthened (perfected, completed, made what you ought to be); be encouraged and consoled and comforted; be of the same [agreeable] mind one with another; live in peace, and [then] the God of love [Who is the Source of affection, goodwill, love, and benevolence toward men] and the Author and Promoter of peace will be with you.

2 Corinthians 13:11

Each one of us needs to accept our responsibility to do what is right in God's eyes, whether others do the right thing or not. Otherwise we will have a standoff:

  • "Well, if you will not say you are sorry, then I will not say I am sorry."

  • "You are not nice, so I am not going to be nice."

  • "You have not given me a compliment in a year, so I am not going to give you one either."

That attitude gets relationships in trouble. God wants us to live above the pettiness of selfish arguments by loving one another.

Daily Devotion-Enjoy a New Beginning

But there is forgiveness with You [just what man needs], that You may be reverently feared and worshiped.]

Psalm 130:4

People sometimes tell me, " I did something wrong, and I just do not know if God can ever forgive me of it." Even when we have made serious mistakes, there is always a place forgiveness and a new beginning in Christ.  When we have a new beginning with Christ, we do not have to mourn over the past. We just have to repent and go on. We do not need to repent again and again.

If you know the character of God, you know He will forgive any sin, no mattter how terrible, because to Him all sin is sin. remember, God can make miracles out of mistakes. If you need forgiveness today, simply confess to the Lord what you have done, and enjoy your new beginning  ( see 1 John 1:9). It begins at the moment of forgiveness.

I Miss My Hubby

The company Steve works for was running out of bagel pans. So they sent Steve on a run to Kanasa. He left this this morning about six and he will not be back until late Sunday night or early Monday morning. I talked to him a little bit ago and he was in Kansas, but still has an hour and half to get where he was going. I miss him like crazy. Three days being away from him is a long time. I know we are lucky he found a trucking job that is not over the road, and is home every day. I am just not used to him being gone like this. OK sorry I had to whine a little. Love you baby. Please stay safe. Hugs and kisses.

Let it Snow, Let it Snow, Let it Snow

I love snow! The thing is I live in Texas. We do not get a whole lot of snow. When it does snow it never sticks. As soon as it hits the ground it is gone. It made me smile when I found I could let it snow on my blog. It is way too cool!!!!

Happy Belated Birthday Dad

My Dads birthday was on Thursday I did not get a chance to post this as we were at the hospital most of the day. We all love you Dad. You are the best. Thank you for all your help with the house. We could not do this with out you and Momma. Happy Birthday and I am sorry we were not able to spend the day as planned but we will make it up to you.

Another trip to the Hospital

We made another trip to the hospital on Thursday afternoon. However, it was not my Mom who needed to go, it was Steve's Mom Patty. Her heart is acting up. She has to take nitro for her heart and she has been told if you have to take more than three pills go to the hospital, which is what we did. Let me tell you most of the E.R. department staff in Hughley Hospital was rude and unkind as all get out. I think we saw our nurse a total of 3 times in a 8 hour period. I know they were busy, but the little lady in the room next to us had a great nurse. Sher took care of that lady made sure she had something to eat, something to drink, and she even answered our pages to our nurse who had disappeared. There was also another nurse that was very helpful, and a radiologist that had a great since of humor! We finally after 8 hours of hardly any information were told that they were going to admit her into the hospital. We did not get her settled into her room till after 1 in the morning. I have to say the nursing staff in the unit we are is much nicer. They seem to really care about their patients. I spent the night last night with her and she was feeling much better. I came home about three and my Mom went to stay the night with her tonight so I could get some rest. Hopefully tomorrow she will be released, Mike misses her.

Our Christmas Tree and Other Christmas Stuff

Ever since Steve and I had our first Christmas as a married couple we have been saying

Almost Finished Tree

this year will be the year we get a real tree. Every year we end just using the one we have in storage. I am so proud of us after all this will be our 8th Christmas together we finally bought a real tree!!!! I love real trees. Nothing can beat the smell of having a Christmas tree in your living room. I am so happy. When I was growing up my Mom would not even bear to think of using a fake tree. Although we have a very nice fake tree it is just not the same as a real one. I do not care what kind of candles, air freshers, or oil  you use nothing compares to the smell of a real tree.

The first Christmas we were together Steve bought me a teddy bear with the year on its paw. It was his way of making up of our first fight. Well it has become a tradition for him to buy me one of these bears or sometimes even the matching pair every Christmas. I have not received my bear for this

Teddy Bears

Christmas yet. I was not real sure where to put my bears this year. I have been moving them around trying them out in different places. I really liked them on the fireplace hearth, but we decided to use the fireplace so they got thrown on the couch. Then my brilliant husband decided to hang from the ceiling. I thought it was a pretty great idea!

My Mom had this Christmas village when I was growing up and I thought it was the coolest idea! So when I got married and started our traditions I started a Christmas village. I just started it last year really, but the auction we go to on Friday nights had this huge Christmas auction last year and I was able to get a lot of this stuff pretty cheap. Village

I guess Dad let them outside and decide to leave them out their for a little bit, but he did not plan on falling asleep. Mom heard Princess barking and could not seem to locate Princess. Mom went into our living room and looked out our sliding glass door and noticed little Miss. Princess at the door. Mom let her in and called for Shadow, but Shadow was not in the back yard. He was gone. She woke Dad to tell him Shadow was not in the yard. Dad started walking the neighborhood looking for Shadow. He finally gave up and was pretty upset with himself. He was also really happy that Princess had not followed Shadow, cause he knows that dang dog is my baby and I would be heartbroken if anything should happen to her. We all go to bed and the next morning Shadow is back in the yard all wet and muddy. Dad was very happy to see Shadow and called Shadow to him, but something was wrong with Shadow. He had a very bad limp. Dad got to looking at him and saw he was all cut up. We are not sure if he got hit by a car or he got in a fight with another animal. We doctored him up pretty good. Cleaned his cuts, cleaned him, and watched him to make sure he was OK. The limp is going away and his cuts are healing nicely. I told Shadow he better have learned his lesson next time he might not be so lucky.
