Daily Devotion- God Will Keep You
[As for me] I am poor and needy, yet the Lord takes thought and plans for me. You are my Help and my Deliverer. O my God, do not tarry.
Psalm 40:17
God has a plan for each of us, and the good things that happen to us are not just a coincidence. All good and perfect gifts come from God (see James 1:17). It is exciting to have a relationship with God when we are aware that He is carefully leading and guiding us to His blessings.
If you do not understand something the first time God speaks to you, He will give you another chance and will continue to teach you until you know clearly the way you should go. Jesus came to seek and to save those who are lost ( see Luke 19:10). This means that He will find you if you go astray.

Daily Devotion- Invest in Someone
The wicked borrow and pay not again [for they may be unable], but the [uncompromisingly] righteous deal kindly and give [for they are able].
Psalm 37:21
Take a chances today and invest in someone else's life, especially if God tells you to do so. You may give them something of value only to learn they waste it as they always have done in the past. but remember that God made an investment in you, an He wants you to be willing to make an investment in somebody else.
Jesus died to give everybody a chance. Not everyone takes advantage of His provision, but we all have an equal opportunity to enjoy the abundant life. If you help someone, and they end up not doing what is right with it, that is between them and God. Give thanks that you are able to give, and then do whatever God tells you to do.

Daily Devotion-He Will Reward You
So repent (change your mind and purpose); turn around and return [to God], that your sins may be erased (blotted out, wiped clean),
that times of refreshing (of recovering from the effects of heat, of reviving with fresh air) may come from the presence of the Lord;
Acts 3:19
Success principles alone will not work your life if you do not spend time with God, allowing His Holy Spirit to be your Counselor and to give you revelation and understanding of what to do each day. But if you flow in God's plan, you will learn to stop trying to figure out how everything will work together for your good.
Learn to seek God's face and not His hand all the time. Then keep your hands open and be ready to receive from Him. God is good; you can trust what He speaks to your heart to do.

Daily Devotion- Be Renewed
[No] for God selected (deliberately chose) what in the world is foolish to put the wise to shame,
and what the world calls weak to put the strong to shame.
And God also selected (deliberately chose) what in the world is lowborn and insignificant and
branded and treated with contempt, even the things that are nothing, that He might depose and bring to nothing the things that are,
So that no mortal man should [have pretense for glorying and] boast in the presence of God.
1 Corinthians 1:27-29
If you are weak in faith, in mind, in body, in discipline, in self-control, or in determination, simply wait on God. He will be strong through your weakness.
Isaiah 40:31 teaches that if you expect God, look for Him, and hope in Him, you will change and renew your strength and power; you will run, and not grow faint or become tired. The Bible does not say "hope so, it could be, or it may be"; it declares that you will be renewed.

My Husband Rocks~Sacrificial Love
Prompt/Theme for Friday, January 23, 2009
Tell us about a time that your spouse went out of his way to serve you, and love you sacrificially.
I'm also going to include a challenge this week. I don't know that I'm going to do it every week, and you do not have to participate, but this one is really more to keep me accountable.
Your mission, if you choose to accept it, has two parts. First, look for ways that you can serve your husband. These can be big or small, sometimes the things that seem so insignificant to us can make a big difference in making our husbands feel loved and respected. And second, if your husband asks you to do something for him, even if it seems silly, or like he could easily do it for himself, do it cheerfully and without an attitude of annoyance.
We have been doing the Fireproof Bible Study. It is a six week study. The first week it takes you through the differences of Ephesians 5:33 (However, each one of you also must love his wife as he loves himself, and the wife must respect her husband). I really had no clue about how I had disrespected my husband. I had not meant to disrespected him but I did in my ways of treating him. This opened up a great dialogue between the two of us. We were each able to really open up to one another. We were talking about the way a man is supposed to be the head of the marriage. He really stepped up after this conversation and our prayer time together. He has really lovingly served me this way. He has taken over handling the bills, he lets me know much I can spend at the grocery store, and many other things that I do not have to handle anymore.
We talk a lot on the phone at night. It helps keep him awake and we miss each other. Last night he told me how proud of me he was. That really touched my heart to know that he saw that I really I am trying to be better.
A couple of weeks ago we had a little bit of extra money. He know how I was wanting a new mp3 player. Mine old one died before Christmas. I love wearing it around the house as I clean since I am never really by myself to blast music. He and I went to Wally World first and they really did not have any that I liked so we went to Best B. I was so excited to get a new mp3 player. I tried to get him to get something, but he told me my smile was all he needed. My husband really does rock!!!

Daily Devotion- Lord, What's Next
Show me Your ways, O Lord; teach me Your paths.
Guide me in Your truth and faithfulness and teach me, for You are the God of my salvation;
for You [You only and altogether] do I wait [expectantly] all the day long.
Psalm 25:4-5
Start your day by saying," I am excited about this day, God. I can hardly wait to see what You are going to do. I believe You are going to keep me, help me, bless me, and give me favor. I love You, Father. I am waiting on You, Lord, and I am listening to You."
Ask God to put into your spirit everything He wants you to know. Ask Him to show you things to come and what you are supposed to do ( see John 16:13). He will give you direction, and you will have much to praise Him for today.

Daily Devotion-Wait For the Lord
Keep the charge of the Lord your God, walk in His ways, keep His statutes, His commandments, His precepts,
and His testimonies, as it is written in the Law of Moses, that you may do wisely
and prosper in all that you do and wherever you turn,
1 Kings 2:3
When you pray, wait for the Lord. This means to look for, to expect, and to hope in God. This is not a passive state of mind, but one of expectancy.
Tell Him,"God, I have my hope in You. I believe that You are working on my problems. I believe that You are making arrangements for my day. You are posting angels all through out my walk, everywhere along my path where You already know I am going to walk today. Thank you, Lord, that you are a pioneer who has already gone before me and made a way for me to have a blessed day."

Daily Devotion-Do Not Fall Apart
But He said to me, My grace (My favor and loving-kindness and mercy) is enough for you [sufficient against any danger and enables you to bear the trouble manfully]; for My strength and power are made perfect (fulfilled and completed) and show themselves most effective in [your] weakness. Therefore, I will all the more gladly glory in my weaknesses and infirmities, that the strength and power of Christ (the Messiah) may rest (yes, may pitch a tent over and dwell) upon me!
2 Corinthians 12:9
Come apart and spend some time with God before you come apart. No matter how strong and healthy you are, no matter what your age is, no matter what you think you know, without God, you are going to get weary and tired.
God does not get tired, and the Word says He gives power to the faint and weary, and increases strength to those who have no might. But those who wait for the Lord, who expect, look for, and hope in Him, will be renewed (see Isaiah 40:29-31). God is willing to increase your strength. Get alone with Him anytime you need to be strengthened.

My Husband Rocks~ Generous Wife Tip & List

Prompt/Theme for Friday, January 16, 2009
This week's prompt has two parts:
First, list at least one thing your husband did or said in the past week that reminded you why you love him. Everyone has to have at least one - even on a "bad week" - it doesn't matter how big or how small! Nothing that touched your heart is insignificant!
And second, share a "Generous Wife Tip" - it can be on any subject - anything that you do or would like to do more often to make your husband feel loved and respected!
~One~
My hubby's faith has made me smile this week. It seems like a small thing, but the strength of his faith makes mine stronger when I need it the most. His birthday was on Friday and I got made him a "love jar." It is filled with strips of paper telling him why I love him, or why I respect him, some are just silly sayings, others are coupons on fake rose petals for foot rubs or other things, and others are just a short little love notes. His reaction to the jar surprised me a lot. He loves it. He can not wait to make his daily pick out of the jar. He has already told me that he will be making me one. It really touched my heart the way he was so excited about a simple homemade gift.
~Two~
My Tip is tell your hubby every day not only that you love him, but you respect him and that you appreciate what he does for your family. He will appreciate this more than you know. You will be building up his spirit, his self esteem, and he will never have to question if you notice the hard work he does.
Daily Devotion- Receive By Faith
Now therefore, I pray You, if I have found favor in Your sight, show me now Your way, that I may know You
[progressively become more deeply and intimately acquainted with You, perceiving and recognizing and
understanding more strongly and clearly] and that I may find favor in Your sight. And [Lord, do] consider that this nation is Your people.
And the Lord said, My Presence shall go with you, and I will give you rest.
Exodus 33:13-14
Everything we receive from God comes by faith. When you are waiting for Him to speak to your heart, just believe that He will speak to you, even if you do not hear anything right that minute.
Believe that because you have acknowledged Him, you can expect to see His hand moving in your life all day long. Then step forward, knowing that He will keep you on the right path because you have asked Him to do so. Watching God's hand of favor move on our behalf is one of life's greatest delights.

Daily Devotion- Be Happy
The Lord is my Strength and Song; and He has become my Salvation.
The voice of rejoicing and salvation is in the tents and private dwellings of the [uncompromisingly] righteous:
the right hand of the Lord does valiantly and achieves strength!
Psalm 118:14-15
Happiness is the results of a radical, outrageous relationship with God. If we want to walk in victory, we have to put some time into our relationship the Lord. There is much to discover about His plan for us.
Our contentment won't last if we are not obeying God by seeking Him with our whole heart. God wants us to really talk to Him and pay attention to His answers. Spend enough time with Him this morning to walk in victory all day.

Happy 30th Birthday Steve
My darling, wonderful, absolutely the best husband in the world is 30 years old today!!!!!! Happy Birthday baby. I know you are a little sad, but just think our car insurance should go down!!! Seriously do not be sad. It is OK to be 30. Celebrate like there is no tomorrow!!!!An Update on Jess
Daily Devotion-Go With What You Know
Satisfy us in the morning with your unfailing love,
that we may sing for joy and be glad all our days.
Psalm 90:14 NIV
This morning pray, "Lord, I am waiting for you to direct me." While you honor the Lord by listening for His response, you may hear Him speak something specific to you right away. It may seem as though He inscribes direction in your spirit for the day. The devil may tell you that it wasn't really God who spoke to you. Or while you are waiting to hear from God, Satan may tell you that you are wasting your time.
It is imporant to know the truth of God's Word so that the direction God sows in your heart will not be snatched away from you through doubt. God may not lay out a blueprint for your day, but He will direct your path, if you acknowledge Him in all of your ways (see Proverbs 3:6).

Daily Devotion-Pray and Listen
Cause me to hear Your loving-kindness in the morning, for on You do I lean and in You do I trust.
Cause me to know the way wherein I should walk, for I lift up my inner self to You.
Psalm 143:8
We need to pray and then stop and listen. Sometimes we can hear God as a still, small voice from within our heart. Many times God will speak through our inner witness so that we "just know" the truth and it sets us free. Suddenly we know what we should or shouldn't do.
King David had a lot to say about seeking God in the morning. He prayed in the morning and then watching and waiting for God to speak to his heart. I like knowing that God is listening for our prayers. He likes it when we listen to His answers too.
My Niece Jessica
This is Jessica. She is our niece from Steve's side of the family. She was taken away from Steve's sister Christy. The reason she and three of her siblings were taken away is a really long story for another time...maybe. She is now 18. She turned 18 January 9th. In 2007 around Christmas time she came to live with Steve and I. She told her adoptive parents she wanted to get to know the family her real family. They agreed to give us temporary power of attorney so we could put her in school here in Texas. She came and we all fell in love with her. She is the sweetest girl. She is so loving, so helpful it was like she had always been in our family. She was with us for two whole weeks. She was just settling in to her new school. Her parents decided they made a huge mistake in letting her come to live with us. They missed her too much. Her Dad could not function without her. He started drinking because she was gone. She told us she did not want to go back. They abused her physically. She had the bruises to prove it. In the end we had no choice but to send her back. We called c.p.s. on the parents, they could not do anything. They were going to charge us with kidnapping if we did not make her get on the plane. So, off she went. I was heart broken. I knew she was not mine, but she filled the ache I had for a baby. Here is the post I wrote just before she left.A week and half ago our life changed a great deal. A great deal for the better I might add. We took in Steve's niece Jessica. She is 16. She was taken away from his family 10+ years ago, but I am not going into those details. She got here and has been a great source of love, energy, and life into our home. She is a beautiful young woman with a wonderful sense of humor. She has not even been here for two whole weeks, but I love this girl with my heart. Even though I know she is my niece she has stopped the ache in my heart for a baby. But they the ones who just sent her away, the ones who I now know hurt her physically and emotionally want her back now. We had to take her to the ER because she had a panic attack. I watched her sit in a corner and cry and shake and rock back and forth. We have called the authorities in both places here where we live and where she is going back to. We can not hold her here, not against her will. We have tried to change her mind, but she says she has to go back. They said we are not her family. That we did not protect her when she was in our care. But I was not around and my husband was a teenager. What I ask you could he do? Then they turn around and say we must be incredible people to open our home, and our hearts up to her, when we really dont know her. You really can not help but fall in love with this girl. My heart is breaking I cant stop crying. I cant fix this. I just want to protect her and I cant, there is no way for me to do that. So at six in the morning I get to watch her walk out of our life. I don't know when we will see her again, or even talk to her, because we have already been told that we will no longer be able to contact her. All I can do is tell her we love her, and she will always have a home where ever we may be. We have told her we want her to stay, and that she can stay but she doesnt see what we see. All she knows is what they are feeding into her head and that is something that should be done to no one. The only thing I know to do is to pray, and pray, and pray some more. Jess we love you!!!! We want you to stay. We are here for you.
We have hardly had any contact with her this last year. I send her messages through myspace. We found out that they were hitting her again, but this time she defended herself. They called the cops on her. They had her put into a medical center of some sort. It is for troubled youth. She called today. Since she is 18 she can check herself out. She is supposed to stay until March of this year. er parents told her if she checks out early she is no longer welcome in their home. She told us as soon as I am 18 I will be back. She needs money to get down here. She is in Montana. Patty is going to pay for her flight down here and she is moving back in with us. I am excited about this. I know it will be hard with Mom and Dad here as well. But we have the Lord on our side. It will work out the way He wants it to. If you guys would please pray for us and this situation. I want God's will done, not mine.

Daily Devotion- Expect Something New
In the morning, O LORD, you hear my voice; in the morning I lay
my requests before you and wait in expectation.
Psalm 5:3 Niv
If you get up and do the exact same thing every morning, you may get pretty bored after a month or so. But seeking God when you first wake up is never boring. He will always have a new revelation ready for you to hear.
Keep your expectation fresh by changing what do in your time with Go.d You might worship the Lord with singing one morning, listen to Christian music another morning, read God's Word the third morning, sit in His presence or confess His word the follow morning. Let the Holy Spirit lead you as you learn to enjoy starting your day with God.

Daily Devotion- Listen for His Purpose
Who is the man who reverently fears and worships the Lord? Him shall He teach in the way that he should choose.
He himself shall dwell at ease, and his offspring shall inherit the land.
The secret [of the sweet, satisfying companionship] of the Lord have they who fear (revere and worship) Him,
and He will show them His covenant and reveal to them its [deep, inner] meaning.
Psalm 25:12-14
It is Gos who wakes us up each morning. If He didn't keep us alive overnight it wpuld not matter what knid of alarm clock we had! The prophet said, " God wakes me morning by morning, and He wakes me for a purpose so that I can hear; I am like a disciple who is taught" ( see Isaiah 50:4).
Before you even get out of bed, listen to what God has to say to you. It will be a good day if you start it with a ready ear, taking time to listen to Him. God is eager to reveal today's plan to you.

Daily Devotion- Start Out Joyfully
I know also, my God, that You try the heart and delight in uprightness. In the uprightness of my heart I have freely offered all these things. And now I have seen with joy Your people who are present here offer voluntarily and freely to You.
O Lord, God of Abraham, Isaac, and Israel, our fathers, keep forever such purposes and thoughts in the minds of Your people, and direct and establish their hearts toward You.
1 Chronicles 29:17-18
My husband always seems happy. Within five minutes of waking up, Dave is humming, singing, or listening to music as he gets ready for the day. Years ago I did not want music on in the morning. I did not want singing or humming or noise of any kind. I wanted silence so I could think.
Today, I still need a little more quite than Dave does in the morning. But we have both found the way to start our day out right. We set our hearts and our minds to follow God. And it works.

Daily Devotion- Rejoice Today
Glory in His holy name; let the hearts of those rejoice who seek the Lord!
Seek the Lord and His strength; yearn for and seek His face and to be in His presence continually!
[Earnestly] remember the marvelous deeds which He has done, His miracles, and the judgments He uttered
1 Chronicles 16:10-12
Many people do not realize how important the morning is, especially those first moments of time that we are awake. God calls the sun to rise for us. He is eager for us to wake up and talk to Him again.
David the psalmist talked a lot about mornings, saying" This is the day that the Lord has made; I will rejoice and be glad in it" (see Psalm 118:24). David did not always feel like rejoicing, but he decided to rejoice in God's new day.
As soon as you get up, look at yourself in the mirror, smile, and say, " I am going to have a good day because Jesus loves me."

Daily Devotion- Get Rest
As for me, I will continue beholding Your face in righteousness (rightness, justice, and right standing with You);
I shall be fully satisfied, when I awake [to find myself] beholding Your form [and having sweet communion with You].
Psalm 17:15
Each evening the sun sets on all our problems and on all of the mistakes we made that day. But something marvelous happens to us as we as sleep- the Lord gives us rest physically, mentally, and emotionally. We are renewed and rejuvenated to face the next day.
Today we may wake up with the same problems we had when we went to bed, problems that yesterday we felt we just could not take anymore. But somehow today, after proper rest and sleep, we think, I can do it: I can face it again. God promises to renew our strength when we rest in Him.

They relish and feast on the abundance of Your house; and You cause them to drink of the stream of Your pleasures.
For with You is the fountain of life; in Your light do we see light.
O continue Your loving-kindness to those who know You, Your righteousness (salvation) to the upright in heart.
Psalm 36:8-10
I have never been much of a swimmer. I may not be the best at fighting the current, but I can float. It is wonderful just to trust the water to keep us up and go along with the flow. We can trust God to keep us afloat through the rapids and lead us to still waters.
The Bible says God's mercy and loving kindness are "new every morning" ( see Lamentations 3:22-23). His mercy isn't just waiting there waiting for us; it is new, fresh, flowing, and powerful every new day. We need to get in the flow of God's river of life early each day and learn to float on the power of His presence.

Daily Devotion- Start Your Day Right
When I said, My foot is slipping, Your mercy and loving-kindness, O Lord, held me up.
Psalm 94:18
Some people seem to start their day on the "wrong foot." They feel all right when they wake up, but as soon as something goes wrong they lose their footing and walk with a "loser's limp" the rest of the day. Once they are off to a bad start, it seems they never catch up.
If someone offends us early in the morning, our anger can keep us defensive all day. If we start the day rushing, it seems we never slow down. But today our feet can be firmly planted in God's Word. There will be no "bad day" when God's Word supports, strengthens, and directs us.
