My Surprise Valentines Date

Hubby and I celebrated Valentines day on Saturday. Really he surprised me with the plans. I thought I was going to spend the day (Saturday) alone because I thought he had to work. Imagine my surprise when I found out I got to spend the day with him. That morning he made breakfast. Afterwards cleaning up the house a bit. Then I had some errands to run. Items to hunt down cause there are free, but they are sold out everywhere. Darn couponers. Anyway I started to get dressed after a shower and hubby came into the closet and said, "Why don't you wear something pretty today?" I started to think he was tired of my comfy gray pants. I was like why? We are only going to a couple of stores. He said, " I just want you to look pretty today." I ask him I don't always look pretty? I tell you I married a smart man. He said, " you look beautiful everyday but I want you to look extra beautiful today." OK, fine as I was figuring out what to wear I can tell he is looking for something. He is looking in every drawer in the bathroom. Baby, what are you looking for? He says your Chi, I couldn't get you an appointment to have your hair fixed so I figured I would do it. ( Now mind you he has a real talent to straighten my hair). Now I know something is up. I just know he is tired of me looking like a rag muffin with head full of frizzy curly hair. As he sits me down he hands me my make up box and says, " I will let you put your make up on so you don't look funny. Finally, I asked what is going on? What do you have up your sleeve? Well at that time he told me we had reservations somewhere at 7pm. Also whenever I was finished getting ready we would be heading to down town Ft. Worth to do some shopping and kill time till 7.

About 5:30 he tells me what our reservations are for, a comedy club. Let me tell you we had a blast. I have not laughed that hard in a long time. After the show was over we stayed at the theater because they have a small sports bar/ club also. We watched people sing karaoke. Hubby tired to get me up to sing but nope was not happening. We also played a game of pool, with no chalk, or a ball rack thing. Um, ya know the triangle thing you put the balls in ,yeah that thing. So we left and went bar hopping. Mind you it was COLD. I froze but, we had fun. We ended up going to the stock yards. We were going to go to Billy Bobs but that place was packed out. So we found a hole in the wall bar to settle in to for a while. Just playing pool. Hubby in his wilder days was a pool shark. He can play some pool. Me I suck, but he lets me win often. It was so good to cut loose and have a great night together out and about. Here are two pictures of us before we left the house on Saturday.

A Night in the Hospital

My Mom is in the hospital. This is the second time in two weeks. Last time they put two stints in her heart. This time she has pneumonia. Hopefully she will be going home today. I stayed with her all afternoon yesterday and all night. Hubby picked me up this morning and let me tell you I am one tired puppy. A great nurse can make all the difference in a hospital stay. Moms nurse last night was awesome. She really listened to Mom and I. She answered all of our questions. And really cared what my Mom was going through. Mom also had her the last time she was in the hospital. The nurse even found and brought in one of those reclining chairs so I could sleep in that. Not that I slept much at all, but I was able to catch a nap here and there. I did not get a chance to thank her for being so caring. You could truly loves being a nurse. Our E.R. nurse was a good one to. She went out of her way to get Mom something to eat last night. She was starving!!! I am going to take a nap. Have a great day.

Kinda of different today. Hubby had to come to one of the restraunts he delivers to. He had to meet the gm of production to do his yearly review. So I am here in a different area waiting on him and blogging in public. It's actually kinda cool. It gives me a different view the normal. The man sitting at the table in front of me makes me smile. He has his Bible and his laptop out studying Gods word while eats lunch. I could take a lesson from him. Some people look like professionals of some sort. They look bored and very busy. There is a table of ladies that look like they have been friends for years. They laugh often. People are so interesting. You never know who they are or what they are going through. Be nice to them offer ups smile and a helping hand when you can.

Living Beyond Myself

That is a hard title to digest. It is not all about me, the world does not revolve around me. Tonight we started a new Bible study. Its Living Beyond Yourself by, Beth Moore. It is about the fruit of the spirit. The 9 qualities you should have if you are truly living in His spirit. Love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, gentleness and self-control. (I will admit I got 5 before I had to look them up). I need all of these but it is that last one that I need a whole lot of, self-control. Really all you have to do is take a look at me and you will know I have very little self control or I would not be the size I am.

I was reading Galatians 5 and I realized that even though I love Christ and He is my Savior I have been falling so short of living my life for Him. I am nor abiding by His commandments is so many ways. I have been greedy, envious, short tempered, inpatient, unkind, and so much more. I need to get right with Him. I need to let my life go, again. I am thankful for the fact that nothing I can do can change His love for me. That He always has enough grace to cover my short comings. Thank you Father, thank you.

Diesel loves toys. Princess could care less about them. Diesel loves squeaky toys. If it squeaks he loves it. Right after Christmas we bought him a large stocking full of dog toys that was on clearance. His Grandma also bought him a stocking for Christmas, it also was full of toys. He also has other toys that hubby and I have bought him. We spoil him with new toys on a regular basis. We keep his toys in this big red plastic basket/tote. He has never been able to get the toys out of it because it was so big. I bought this thing for this reason. He is now big enough and has also figured out that he can now remove whatever toy he wants from the basket. He also thinks it is a big game when I put the toys in the basket that he must take them all right back out. Our living room is never clean anymore. There are toys everywhere. It does not matter that he was not playing with the toy I picked up but as soon as it gets returned to the basket he has to have it. It is funny, sometimes!

All Moved In and Time to Settle

We are all moved in and connected to all the stuff you need to be connected to these days. We are learning our new home with gladness. I can not tell you how happy I am to be able to do laundry when I need to and not have to worry about anyone else needing the machines. It also makes me smile to make dinner for the hubby every night in our kitchen. This is not a rented kitchen this one is all mine. The dogs are settling in nicely. Mr. Diesel is improving majorly in the potty training department. Usually now if he has an accident it is my fault for not paying attention to him, because he does tell us when he needs out. We are enjoying being alone and in the silence again. Our little house came with no floors or appliances for the kitchen. So we decided to stain the concrete. I was amazed at how well it turned out. I love it. The only drawback is you definitely have to sweep everyday and mop every other. What a housekeeper I am becoming. HA HA HA. We borrowed a fridge from hubby's sister. We bought a stove which I am very grateful to have. There is still a hole in the kitchen where the dishwasher goes, but for now I use my hands. That hole is Diesel's favorite spot to lay.
It really is a blessing just to be able to sit in silence,to think, to pray, and to be still knowing HE is God.

Moving Time, Again

We are moving, again. We had a house literally dropped in our laps. We can not believe how great God is. It is a brand spanking new house. It is in a location that we love. It is in the middle of nowhere. It has three bedrooms and two baths. It is on a half acre. Will post pictures soon. We have five days intil closing and moving day. I can not wait. I am thankful for yummy yummy cupcakes that are way too close to our home. I have never really liked cupcakes until recently. A new bakery opened up down the road from us. I now have an obsession about pumkin cupcakes. I ALMOST wish I had never tasted them. ALMOST.

I am thankful for coupons. Ok you knew those where going to come up eventually right. They allow us to help people so much more than I ever thought possible.

I am thankful for being able to go to church and worship with fellow believers.

I am thankful for having a warm home to lay down in at night.

I am thankful for not being completely negative. I am around a severely negative person a lot and it can be down right depressive.

I am thankful for having the kids at church to enjoy. I know they are not mine, but I get to enjoy them for a bit. They brighten up my world.

I am thankful for our friends. They always seem to know when I need a. Word of encouragement.

I know I have so much to be thankful for, but I am just not feeling thankful at the moment. I guess when you feel like I do at this moment is when we really need to be thankful. So I am trying.

I am thankful for all the Veterans that served this country. It is because of you all we are free.

I am thankful for the spiritual, emotional, physical, and financial support my husband gives to me. I have recently witnessed a not so supportive person and it made me think on how blessed I am.

I am thankful for being able to get in the car and get alone for a while. Even if that means going grocery shopping which is fun to me.

I am thankful for the technology that let's me write this in my bed.

I am thankful that the company hubby works for is still growing. When so many right now are making cuts and laying people off.

I am thankful for headphones and music that can drowned out all the noise around you.

I am thankful for the peace that passes all understanding that comes from going to God with your troubles. Now if you will excuse me I am going to get me some of that peace. I need some Jesus right now.

I wanted to do a whole 30 days of what I am thankful for but I am behind by a week. So I will just turn this into a list and add to it as the days go by. Some of these things will be silly, other serious, and other just ridiculous but it is what I am thankful for, and I have no desire to take these things for granted. These are in no order really. I just type them as they come to me.

I am thankful for my family. Yes, even the ones that drive me insane!!!

I am thankful for a loving and merciful God. He loved me (and you) enough to send His only son to die for us. I know that no matter what He is always willing to lean an ear down my way or yours.

I am thankful for my time in Awanas. I can not tell you how much joy I get from listening to these 3 and 4 year old's memorizing God's word. Trust me at times it is trying and my patience with them run thin, but the look on thier sweet little faces as they recite the weeks verse is a feeling that can not be replaced. Some of those kids blow my mind with how well they know there verse for the week. They inspire me.

I am thankful for my sense of smell. I am glad I can smell if something smells great or even if it smells bad (like at the moment my dog Diesel just passed gas AGAIN!!!)

I am thankful for my husband. He is a kind, caring, loving man. He works hard so I do not have to work outside our home. He tells me on a daily basis that he loves me and that I am beautiful. He is truly my other half. He understands me when no one else does. I am amazed that God gave me Steve as a gift.

I am thankful for the time my husband and I have had together as just a couple. We have had 11 years together with no kids.Now please do not misunderstand me I want to be a mother more than anything, and when that time comes, we will be ready. But so many couples get married then start having kids right away. We have this amazing foundation together, that most couples do not get.

Open Letter To Husband's of "Couponers"
This letter was given to me to submit by my dh:

This is for husbands of women frequently referred to as “coupon ladies” or better yet this is for the husbands of women that have just discovered “couponing”. Here are some rules, hints, and suggestions:

1. “Couponers” have their own special communication/language that they use to communicate with each other. You will need to learn this language if you ever plan on having a conversation with your wife again.

A small example of what your wife might say to you: “Honey, I went to Wags and BOGOed shaving cream which was a MM because it produced a RR. And then I went with my GC to Rite Aid and got the items that were FAR which turned into a MM as well. And then because I had some expiring ECBs went and got some of the MM items at CVS too. We really need to get some more ink for the computer so I can print more IPs.”

I would translate that sentence but I got lost at the first BOGO.

2. Real men do indeed shave with pink razors if that is what was free or nearly free in the past few months. You will also find that your shaving cream now smells lightly floral and comes in light pink or green cans.

3. Your favorite foods will become a thing of the past as you learn to eat new and exotic foods. Some you will like. I never knew that ice cream from various manufacturers could taste so different, but I am willing to taste them. Some you won’t like. Kashi – it takes a special man to admit to liking twigs and sticks and this man does not.

4. Your soap now has green netting around the bar of soap so that it doesn’t slip out of your hand while showering or your body wash smells like cucumbers, coconut, melons, etc… I am not fond of the body wash that smells like a Moroccan massage parlor. When you are meeting up with your buds to work on a car you really do not want to smell like a Moroccan massage parlor. But you will learn to smile and hide the pain. Just gently tell her “Honey I think these would be a great item to donate to charity.”

5. You will find stockpiles of items in the least expected places. I went to the coat closet to find my work boots. On the floor instead of my boots were stacks and stacks of toilet paper. Ummm, do we really need to have enough toilet paper for the whole subdivision for the next year? According to my wife the answer is yes. Men, you will learn to respond by saying the following, “Of course dear, you are right.”

6. Your friends and family instead of coming over to watch a football game now come to shop at your home for groceries and green bottles of shampoo and conditioner.

7. You will learn not to disturb your wife on nights when the sales paper comes out. Especially if she has her “coupon binder” and is “matching up sales”. Hint: In the event of a fire – don’t bother grabbing the insurance papers, grab her coupon binder.

8. Do not even think of arranging anything on Sunday’s before or after church as she is busy hitting up the stores with coupons.

9. You will discover that your meek, mild and loving wife turns into a fire breathing creature you never knew existed if a cashier or store manager tells her that the reason she did not get her RR was because she used a coupon or that she can’t use a particular coupon. Pray hard if they accuse her of coupon fraud. If this occurs you will discover her speed dial #s 1-10, well none of them call you. They are reserved for the corporate headquarters of her favorite stores.

10. Never ever ask why she is bringing home 5 more tubes of toothpaste when you already have 100 plus tubes in the guest bedroom closet. Suffice it to say if she brought it home, just tell her what a fabulous shopper she is and how proud you are of her.

11. You will start to recognize other husbands of “coupon ladies”. Look at their lunch. Do they have children’s juice boxes as drinks, packs of starkist tuna (I do believe we have more tuna in the guest bedroom then our local grocery store has on their shelves.), small toothbrushes called Wisps, they smell slightly floral and there is a small handmade coupon good for BOGO kisses and hugs.

There are many more things I could relate to you, but when it is all said and done you will discover she has saved you a lot of money and it seems to make her happy. And when she is happy …. So am I.

Early Morning trip to Wal-Mart and Albertsons

The hubby went to wal mart and albertsons for me this morning. The razors are from wal mart. There are a total of 13 razors. They are priced at 2.88. Hubby had 13 $3.00 off coupons so wal mart paid the hubby $1.56 to take all these razors. That is so very nice of them to pay us for shopping there.

The deodorant is from Albertsons. There is a total of 13. They where on sale 10\10. Hubbs had 13 .50 coupons that doubled to a $1.00. So total price was FREE!!!!.

-$2.00 coupon= .24 (would have bought more but only had 2 lipsticks and they were the same color)

-2 .30 coupons that tripled to .90= .78 This makes each bag about .19

Yes, I am one of those crazy coupon ladies. The ones you hate to be behind in the check out line. I have a pretty good size stock pile going considering I have not been doing this very long. I have been couponing for about 3 years but, since I saw the show on TLC I have kicked it up a notch or even two. The hubby has added some shelves in the laundry area to store extra items. He also installed a peg board for me to hang stuff from.

I know I am a little strange. OK so maybe a little strange is an understatement. I have a feeling most women would be hurt or even angry if their hubby gave them what my hubby gave me, but I love it. It is my favorite color combination. Pink and Black. It has a zipper which is great cause I am so clumsy. I used to drop my old one at least twice a month. It has a strap which I can just throw it on my shoulder with my purse. Wanna know what it is? It is a new coupon binder. It is one of the best gifts he has ever gotten me. He put such thought into this. I know it is a simple thing, but I really wanted a zip binder and one that was easy to turn the pages. Love you baby. Thank you so much again.

Air Power 2011

Hubby and I went to an air show on Saturday. I have never been to an air show so this was an experience. It was great and we had a blast. The weather was beautiful and just a slight breeze. The sky was so blue. We made one little boo boo. We forgot sunscreen. Hubs looks like a red raccoon on his face. My upper chest area and the top of my knees are red. I was wearing a sun visor and they way the visor sat on my face it left a small strip of skin exposed just below my hair line. I have a small strip of sun burn on my forehead, it is very attractive. The show was great and very very loud at time. Here are some pictures.

Oh boy, oh buddy. Its getting deep already. I need this study, but I think it is gonna be a painful one.

I just talked to my brother. I do not hear from him very often. I know it is a two way street. I can call just as easily as he can but we have never been close. It was nice to chat with him though. He wished me a very belated birthday. He complained about his kids annoying him. I told him your lucky to have them, enjoy them while they are still at home. His oldest will be 18 this year.

Please enjoy your kids. Your world would be so different if you did not have them. Take it from one who knows about not having kids, and really wanting them. I know they can be frustrating and infuriating at times, but remember the joy they bring you, the moments you can not imagine not having lived. I want a child so bad. So many do not realize the gift God has given them, and yet He has chosen not to give me that gift. I do not understand why, but I hope that one day He will give me that gift of a child. I choose to stand on His word that He works everything out for our good and His glory. He has a plan and I do not know that plan . I am trusting Him, worshiping Him, praising Him and I will follow Him, even if that means no kids for the hubby and I. I will daily battle the feelings of failure as a wife and a woman, because you as a woman are supposed to provided your husband with children. I will daily battle the feelings and longings to know what it feels like to carry your child for nine months then give birth to it. I will trust my God. I will not let the enemy bring me down or fill my head with lies. My God is in control and everything is in His capable hands. There is no better place to be.

When W.P.L. Mackay was seventeen, he left his humble Scottish home to attend college. His mother gave him a Bible in which she wrote his name and a verse of Scripture. Unfortunately, college was the beginning of a downhill slide for him. At one point, he pawned the Bible to get money for whiskey. However, his mother continued to pray for him until she died.

Eventually, Mackay became a doctor. While working in a hospital he encounter a dying patient who repeatedly asked fro his"book." After the man died, Mackay searched the hospital room to find what book it was that had been so important to him. He was surprised to find the very Bible he had once pawned!

Mackay took the Bible back to his office and stared at the familiar writing of his mother. He thumbed through the pages, reading the many verses his mother had underscored in hopes her son might heed them in his life. After many hours of reading and reflection, Mackay prayed to God for mercy. The physician later became a minister, and then the Book he had treated so callously became his most precious possession.

You may not live to see how your children will "turn out". But you can trust that nothing you do for thier spirtual wholeness will be in vain! If you turn your children over to the Lord in prayer, you can rest in the knowledge that they will always be in His hands.

Today I am babysitting a friends kids. One is 1 and one is 4. The 1 yr old is very fond of his binkie. He has one in his month most of the time, this morning is no excetion. Earlier he found another binkie laying around now he has the one binkie in his mouth and is carrying around the other. Every once in a while he will switch them out. Not sure if they taste different but it is cute.

I think blogger played an April Fools joke on me. I posted this entry this morning but all I got was an empty post. He He all is well. I am home and tired. I really got good reviews from my hubby and my Mom on this recipe. It came from Plain Wisdom the first book I reviewed. I was really surprised at how good this turned out. The hubby had seconds and had it for lunch the next day, and that is really unusual for him. It does make a lot. One other note I used cream of chicken soup instead of cream of mushroom cause this chick does not do shrooms, and I added extra cheese. I meant to take a picture of the finished product but I was not fast enough.

1 Chicken, cooked and chopped (about 2-3 cups)( I used boiled chicken breast and cubed them)
1 pound spaghetti, cooked
1/2 cup chopped onion
1/2 cup chopped celery
pat of butter
1 cup chicken broth
1 cup milk
1 can of condensed cream of mushroom soup
1 can of condensed tomato soup
salt and pepper to taste
1/2 pound of Velveeta cheese

Place cooked chicken and spaghetti in a container, and set aside. In LARGE pot saute onions and celery in a pat of butter(I just guessed at a pat of butter but I didn't use much at all). Add broth, milk, and soups. Bring to a boil. Remove from heat and add chicken and spaghetti. Add salt and pepper as needed. Pour the mixture into a 9x13 greased or sprayed casserole dish. Cover with cheese( I cubbed the Velveeta and added some extra shredded as well) Bake at 350 degrees untill it is heated thoroughly and the cheese has browned.

Fabulous Weekend Away

The hubs and I took off on Sunday morning for a mini getaway. It was loverly. No one around, no interruptions, no distractions. We went to WinStar World Casino. We had fun. It is funny we are not big on gambling I usually like to do other things with money like shopping!!! But we had fun we played bingo, and played the slots a little. It was great just the 2 of us. Only bad thing about this about the trip is that it was not long enough. Our room was great. Very clean. Guess what I got to do? I got to take a nice hot bubble bath. That is the only thing about our duplex I do not like it only has a shower and I love taking a bath. It has been almost a year since I took a bath. Wait, that sounds wrong, I promise I shower daily.

A Surprise Interview and a Wife Going Nuts

Hubs got a call from his boss and they wanted to interview him for an Assistant Manger position. This position would bring Big changes to our little world. But I want what God wants for us. I want to be in His perfect will. I will be happy either way. It is not like if he does not get the job he loses the job he has now, but this would be a step up in the company. A step that would bring him closer to not having to drive a truck for a living. Yes he would still be driving, but not as much. He is at the interview right now and I keeping praying that everything goes well and that God will give us clear direction as to what He wants for us. I am also praying to keep myself from going nuts, I want to know what is going on. OK I have ranted. Ill be back later if I have any new!!!

It is now hours later and I have news. This interview process is a 3 step process today was step 1. I think hubs has passed step 1. He has some paperwork to fill out and to fax back to his GM, but the guy said Hubs is a good guy for the job. So 2 more interviews till we know something and we do not know when those interviews will be.

I did not know this was a non fiction book, but that is OK because I loved Plain Wisdom anyway.It gives a polite look into an Amish families life, home, and community. It also has many real world truths about us as sinners and our God who loves us so much. Each new chapter starts with a scripture which is in line with the chapters theme. I can not wait to try out some of the recipes they share in this book. They sound so good. This book proves all you need is an open heart and a plate full of salad dressing to start a life long friendship. I will be reading this book again.

Life as it happens

This has been a rough year so far. At least health wise. It seems like I am sick at least every other week. I have had a uti, a cold/flu thing, a middle ear infection that liked to switch between both years, a yest infection, and most recently a stomach bug. This thing is driving me crazy. I caught it from one of the boys I babysit. Poor thing was miserable and then I was to. This is a crappy time to get sick. I have not wanted to leave my bed, but outside has been GORGEOUS. Thats not the only kicker hubs has been off since Feb 7th. His D.O.T. physical expired and they would not renew it until he had used his C pap machine for 2 weeks. Of course he can not use the machine if he has a cold or it could turn into pneumonia, and of course 3 days into his 2 weeks off he gets a cold and has not used it in about a week. I am really glad he had a 2 week vacation this year or we would have been in some trouble.

I am loving this weather and our car. Back in August we got a new car. Well, it was new to us. It is a PT Cruiser and its a convertible. The weather here has been perfect for riding around with the top down. Today was the first day this week I have been able to enjoy it.

On the up side of hubs being off we our getting lots of quality time together. I really thought he would drive me nuts for two weeks, but it has been great having him home and awake. Earlier this afternoon we took Princess for a walk together. As we were walking up and down our street we ended up running into several different people we know from church. This is why we like living here, its a small town and you see people you know all the time and if you ever need anything someone is always just a call or text away. Yes it is far away from hubs job, but the people are here and thats what makes where we live special.

Dinner was so good. I love having a man who can cook. He made BBQ chicken, bake potatoes, and mac and cheese. Yummy yummy. We have been playing Super Mario Bros. on Wii. We have made it to level 8 and what we believe to be the last ship on the game, but we can not seem to beat it. It is so frustrating. Playing this is a way we do something together that we both enjoy. Steve is getting more and more comfortable with my driving. I drove him around all day. We went to Wal-Mart to get his blood pressure medicine. Picked up a few other things. Then back home for more Mario, movies and dinner!!!! I love having my hubby off of work!!!

I just got done reading my last post. A post that was almost a year ago. I'm a bad blogger, so bad. Well a little update. We did move but not closer to Steve's job. We just changed apartments within our complex. We decided we are really happy where we are; our church, the area, that kind of thing. Mom did move to my sister's but she is back with us. Little one, we are so proud of her. She just graduated from boot camp. She joined the navy. She will be stationed in San Diego. We miss her, but God is working in her life and I hope and pray she finds Him again. I crossed off a huge goal off my list. I need to update my goal page once again just a bad blogger. I got my drivers licenses YAY!!!!!!! Finally. Dad would have been so proud. Steve has joined the church choir, we are having fun with that together. I am amazed at how we change together and how our love also changes as we change. We seem to grow closer and closer each year. God truly blessed me abundantly when He paired Steve and I together. I loved him so much the day we were married, I did not think it was possible to love him anymore, but I do and that love is so much stronger yet it is a different love, a better love. It is a love of sharing your life with someone. Its a love that has gotten us through personal failing's, losing family members, struggles to get pregnant, financial issues and so many more good times. The funny thing is every bad or hard moment has led to a good memory, a closer relationship with each other so I would never change those hard times, because they brought us so much more happiness. I am really enjoying crocheting yet I took a break from crocheting for a bit, but I am back working hard on a blanket. It is a light blue and brown granny square blanket.

A Random post at 2 in the Morning and a New Layout

I know it has been a while, a long while since I last posted, but I have not had anything I wanted to share. I have been fighting a depression and at times it has gotten pretty deep. I am not over this depression of mine by any means, but I seem to be slowly getting better. We have decided we are moving. It is time to leave this apartment. Being in the same place where Dad died on a daily basis has been hard. My Mom is going to live with my Sister and her family. I think it will do her a world of good, but I have to get used to not having Mom around on a daily basis. I will miss her like crazy. We (I think it will be just Steve and I) will be moving closer to his job. I am hoping to cut his commute time in half, if not more. Lil One is fixing to start college. She finished school in December, and is looking for a junior college that has dorm rooms.
I have a new purse fetish, not that I have not always had one, but a fetish for a designer, Kathy Van Zeeland. I love her purses. They are so cute. Mom bought me one for Christmas,(it was a happy accident) and she bought one for my birthday, which is tomorrow.
I am learning how to crochet. It is going pretty slowly, but I am working on a small throw to snuggle on the couch with. I will post pictures when I remember to charge my camera battery.

Thanksgiving

How was your Thanksgiving? Ours was good, different but good. We did not make any of our usual dishes, in fact we did not cook at all. We went to my Sil's cousins house. It was very good and very easy. The only people that were missing was, of course Dad and Steve. Steve had to work Thanksgiving night so he could not be in Thanksgiving in Wichita Falls. Dad was missed, but he is missed everyday. It is so hard knowing I will not see him again on this side of heaven. I know I will see him in heaven. God is giving me enough grace to get through each day.

Mom is doing great. She is setting small goals and working toward meeting them. Dad would be so proud of her. I know I am. She is working towards her G.E.D.

Did yall go shopping during black Friday? I didnt. I was in no mood to deal with the crowds. We bought our tree on Friday. It is very pretty. We are waiting on Lil' Jess to get home from school this afternoon to decorate it. It is hard to get in the holiday spirit but I know Dad would not want me to be sad.

I am trying so hard to get back to normal. I had to go to the doctor on Monday to get my self some help to sleep. I am finally feeling like a normal person again. We are making plans for our Thanksgiving. It will be very weird that Dad will not be there. His birthday is on Dec 4. Then Christmas. This is going to be such a bittersweet Christmas. It will be Lil' Jessica's first Christmas with us, but this will also be our first Christmas without Dad. Last Christmas was so bad. My sister and I fighting. I wish we would have known that was going to be his last. I wish so many things would be different.

One of these days I will post the poem I wrote and read at Dad's funeral.

I am Still Alive

Hello all. I can not believe it has been so long since I last posted. So much has happened, so many things. Well I guess first off we moved. We didnt go far but our house was having foundation issues and well we didnt want the house to fall on us. Anyways, I am now the Cubbie director for Awana. Awana is a club that reaches boys and girls with the gospel of Christ. I teach 3 and 4 year olds. It is so much fun. Sad news time, when we moved we could only have 1 animal. We kept Princess, Faith went to the Mother in Laws and Mr. Shadow went to my sisters house. We found out last Friday Faith died. She was unhappy and quit eating. My Daddy lost his battle with cancer on Oct. 17. He was at home and not alone. We know he is in such a better place and no longer suffering. He is missed and we have a huge hole in our family.

I can not believe it. I have lost something that I can not believe that I lost. I lost my coupon binder. I guess I left it at the store last time we went shopping. I am sick. The binder is no big deal, but I also had some letters from friends that mean a lot to me. That binder also had hours of work from clipping, sorting, and printing the coupons. I can not believe I did that! I am so aggravated!!!! Grrrr

Faith is Getting Huge

Faith was 35 lbs. last time we weighted her. That was about a week ago. Where did my small sweet little puppy go? She can finally get on the couch by herself which makes Princess really unhappy. We are getting so much better in the house breaking. Only three accidents in about 3 days. We are fixing to have to go buy her third collar. The one she has now is extended to its limit. The rope is still her favorite toy. She really needs to learn to leave my shoes alone. She chewed my church shoes to pieces. They were the only pair of comfortable heels I had. All in all she is a huge gubber that makes us laugh on a daily basis. We love her, but I am ready for her to stop growing, but I know that is not happening.

Yes that is a toilet outside. We had to replace the one in Mom and Dads bathroom. I am waiting for it to be hauled of to the dump. Steve thought that was too funny. He had to put Princess on the potty.

Oh and by the way.....Today was Steve first day back at work full time.....YAHOO!!!!!!

Mothers Day......a day of celebration and pain

I love having a day to celebrate the women that have touched and shaped my life. My Mom, first and foremost, but then there are my Grandmothers, Aunts, women I call my 2ND Mother,my Mother in law, and my Sister. These women have taught me how to be a woman and changed my life in ways they will never know. We need to let these women more often how much we appreciate them more than once a year.

Mothers Day also is a day of pain for many women, including me.

Women who have lost one of these important women in their lives.
Women who have lost their child/children from whatever cause
Women who have never been able to have to children.

I am in that third category. Year after year Mothers Day gets a little harder. I have made it a habit to try to spend Mothers Day with my Mom and not go anywhere else. This year was different. We have become so involved in our church that I hate missing a service. My week is not complete without our Sunday School class, service. It makes the world a nicer place. I went to church yesterday. I thought it was going to be hard. I had no idea. We had a baby dedication, that was so sweet and my heart cracked a little, but I was OK. Then they started to recognize the Moms of the congregation. Our pastor had the little ones pass out a bookmark and a lapel pin to all the Moms. All the kids raced to give their Mom a hug and that pin first. It was so sweet. Then they raced back to help pass out the rest of the pins to the other Moms. My heart broke. I lost it. No, I was not sitting in a pew where only the pastor could see me crying. I was in the loft with the choir facing the entire church. Ladies it was an ugly cry. Yeah, you know the one. I was trying to hold it in but that did not help anything. Did I mention I sit on the front row of the choir. Our choir is made up of some very compassionate people. They were able to help me laugh and comfort me at the same time so I could half way get my stuff together and sing and not embarrass myself anymore than I already had.

I felt so alone, like no one understood how I felt. Its not that I am not happy to celebrate. The reason I am sharing this because I know there have to be other woman out there who feel like I do. Please know you are not alone in feeling the pain of Mothers Day.

Growing up you did without many times so we could have what we needed. I have heard you say you werent a good Mom, but thats just not true. You still are a great Mom, and if I get to be half the mom you are I will be doing good. Were you the perfect Mom, no, but you were the perfect Mom for me. I am glad to count you as my best friend. I love having you live here with us. I know how lucky I am to have this relationship with you. I love sitting in your den talking to you. It does not matter about what we talk about just that I know you are there to listen. I always knew I could come to you as a teenager, I just sometimes made the choice not to come to you. Thats usually when I made my biggest mistakes was not talking to you about the choices I was making. I can not begin to thank you for everything. You are blessed. I just wanted to say hi and I am still alive. Steve really injured his back. He twisted his tail bone to the right. He has started physical therapy and they have put him on restriction. He can still drive his truck but he can not load or unload the truck, so he is only working about 20 hours a week. Workers Comp is kicking in the rest of his hours. Thank You Lord!!! I have been sick for almost 3 weeks every time I think I am getting better it comes back even worse. This last time it was so bad I did not go to church on Sunday, I hate not going to church. I ended up having to go to the ER Sunday evening. I have strep throat. They gave me a wonderful shot of steroids that really mad me feel a lot better about 9 0 clock. That shot really made me feel weird for a while, I couldn't feel my body. I am on the mend again. Thank You Lord!! Mom and Dad went to my Sister's for her birthday. They have not come back yet. She is keeping Dad away from me, which I don't blame her at all. Anything he gets is so much worse than when get it. Lil Jess is getting ready to go to prom, but I think the boy she was supposed to be going with broke up with her this afternoon. She really does not trust me at all. She does not talk to me at all. We are really struggling with her. Anyone have any advice. God is so amazing. I cant go in to details but He is bringing our family back together. We have been praying for this for so long. We are so thankful. We are so truly blessed.

Even though Steve is having trouble with his back again, he is taking care of sick little ole' me. He is such a great guy. Poor baby, his back is really acting up. He had x rays done this afternoon. Hopefully we will know what the issue is by Monday. With all this going on he is still working hard and trying to make me feel better. Geeze, he is such a catch. Thank You for all that you do for us Steve. I hope you know how much we all love and appreciate all that you do for us.

Do you ever feel that no matter where you go, somebody pursues you and hunts you down? Does someone seem to need something everytime you start doing what you set out to do? Someone needs a ride to school, or somebody forgets their lunch, and before you know it, half your day is wasted.

Jesus knows what it is like to be pursued, but He was never upset by it. As soon as He ministered to everyone in one place, He went to the next town to find more people who needed Him. He never said, "leave Me alone." Ask God to show you the needs of people through the eyes of Jesus today, and your days will never be wasted.

Jesus got up early in the morning, long before daylight, and went out to be a deserted place, and prayed-He got alone (see Mark 1:35). There were so many people who followed Jesus everywhere He went that He would not have any time alone if He hadn't gotten up really early.

If you are not a morning person, the thought of getting up early may make you nervous. But you can decipher for yourself what "early" means for you. Nine o' clock is early if you are used to staying in bed until noon. Even if you only get up fifteen minutes earlier than usual to have some time alone woth God, you will still honor Him, and that time with Him, will make your whole day brighter.

Today is March 28, 2009. Nine years ago my soon to be husbands life changed forever. My father in law was named Howard but went by Doug to his friends and family. He went to work nine years ago today like he always did. He was a truck driver for Monkey Wards. He said goodbye to his sons Mike and Steve. Steve and Doug didnt always get along so great, but they had a good day spending most of the day together and getting along. He said goodbye and goodnight because he worked at night. But he never came home. We knew about the bad weather that was comming. It was like any other spring storm we have endured living in Texas. He got to work and saw the tornado coming towards them. The security guards were in a rinky little tin shack he ran to the shack and banged on the door to tell them to take cover. He then took off running towards the warehouse. He didnt make it to the building before the tornado hit. He was crushed by the trailer he was supposed to be hauling, but he saved the mens lives that were in the shack. We knew the tornado had hit at Monkey Wards, it was on the news so we (my mother in law, Steve, Mike, Sammy, Mandy and I) pile into mine and Steve's car. We get to downtown Ft. Worth and find out that we cant get anywhere close to Monkey Wards with the car, so we park behind a building a couple of blocks away. Patty stays in the car with the kids, and Steve and I take off towards Wards to see if we can find his Dad cause we had not heard from him. We get to the corner of Wards (its Seventh St and something elese I am not sure) and a buch of officers and people are walking around. We stop an officer and ask about where the employees are gathered, because our Dad works here and we havent heard fom him and want to make sure he is all right. The officers then tells us where they all are and another one said there had been one death. Well Steve askes if he had run into a man named named Howard. The officer looked at Steve with a look I will never forget and he said son you need to go home. We knew right then, you see the uniforms the drivers wore had thier names stiched aboved the pocket so he was alreagy idenified. A couple of hours later we got offical comfirmation that he was gone from this world and into a better place. This family will never be the same without him, and we will not forget him. Thats the story of March 28 2000.

Birthday Happiness

I can not believe what a great day Steve planned for us. After breakfast and bingo, we went and watched a movie New in Town. It was cute. He took me to Catos and bought me a new dress, a shirt for our choir performance, and a braclet. Later that evening I went to Bible Study. They gave me this huge cupcake. It had white icing and blue, purple, and yellow flowers on it. It was very tasty. They also sang Happy Birthday. I love these ladies. They are such a warm and loving group of women. When I got home, Steve had been to the store and got a pink cake. It was such a nice day. I am so blessed by the people in my life. I am amazed that in less than one year my entire outlook on life has completly changed. The people God brought into my life will never know how much they have affected my life.

It is my birthday. We went out to Cracker Barrel for breakfast, it was so good. Steve got me a beatiful card, a glass picture frame, and a camera but I have not gotten it yet. It wont be here til next week. Jess got me a candle, a card, and a Tweety bird ballon that sings when you tap it. It is too cute. I love Tweety! We are going to play afternoon bingo. I am 26. Happy B day to me!

My hubby is such a great guy. It blows me away. He works so hard at work to provide for all of us. He is working more and more in the church. He tries to be a godly husband, son, son in law, brother, uncle, and friend. He cares so much for his hamily. He keeps his family together. He is the one who calls everyone else and gives them news about the rest of the family. He just left for Houston and I am sad. I hate knowing I wont see him for three days. I can not begin to explain it. He really is my soul mate. I feel like half of me is gone when he is away.
