Let us then fearlessly and confidently and boldly
draw near to the throne of grace
(the throne of God's unmerited favor to us sinners),
that we may receive mercy [for our failures] and
find grace to help in good time for every need
[appropriate help and well-timed help,
coming just when we need it].

What a great High Priest we have in Jesus. He understands our experiences, and He knows what it is like to live in a human body. He positioned Himself to go through the same kind of temptations we do, but He did not give in to them.
He knows that the temper lies in wait for us, and He knows we need His mercy and strength. We still fall short even when we have the best of intentions to do good. God tells us to receive, not strive to get, but just to receive mercy for each day.
