Play a Long

1. Post 11 random facts about yourself
2. Choose 11 deserving other bloggers
3. Let them know they have been chosen
4. Answer the 11 questions the nominator has asked
5. Now give 11 questions to the ones you have chosen.
NO TAGS BACK

I didn't get chosen, but I decided to play along anyway. I am not picking anyone either but if you want to play go ahead and answer my questions.

  1. When I was 8 I ran into a parked truck on my bicycle. I had a roll of thin mint girl scout cookies between the handle of the bike and the brake, and I was chasing a boy and not paying attention to where I was going. But I still swear to this day that truck was not pulled in his driveway. My face left an indention on that truck literally.
  2. There are days when I do not do a single thing all day but read and cook dinner for hubby, cause I gotta feed the man.
  3. I do enjoy having the occasional alcoholic drink, but I do not let myself drink every often because it has a pull on me that I do not like. There are too many alcoholics in my family history for me to take that chance. Plus I have an addictive personality on top of everything else.
  4. I love to munch on ice. Sonic has great ice, but there is a gas station in town that has sonic ice, but its twice the size. Yummy Yummy. Hubby will no longer buy me sonic ice cause I eat it instead of using it for drinks.
  5. I love the smell of cinnamon. This scent is a reminder of Christmas, and home, and all things cozy. I use cinnamon smelling stuff all year round.
  6. I once got in a fight with one of my sister in laws. Yes a fist fight. She called a fat female dog one too many times.
  7. I miss working in the casino. I do not miss the second hand smoke, but it was a fun place to work.
  8. I want to go back to school. I want to learn to be a professional photographer. I love being behind the camera. There is so much to know, to learn.
  9. I had no clue about how much I would miss my Dad. I really took it for granted when he was here.
  10. I have horrible eye site. Mom got me my first pair of glasses when I was about 9. I did not know that the world had details in till I put on that first pair of glasses. Everything I saw were blobs. Mom told me before we went to pick up the glasses that she would wear her glasses (cause she got glasses also) and I would wear mine. She did not realize I would not want to take them off because I could see finally. She did not keep her end of the bargain.
  11. Coupons have helped me become more out going. I have long conversations at the grocery store with random people about coupons. Usually I do not like to speak to people I do not know. I am very shy.

First, middle, baby........or only child?
I am the baby, but I was raised as an only child. My brother and sister are 13 and 11 years older than me.

What did/do you parent(s) 'do' to earn a living?
My Mom and Dad both a many different jobs, Mom mostly did warehouse work, as a shipping and receiving clerk. Dad was a maintenance man for years and then he made marble showers, sinks, and counters, then later in life he was a security guard. I called him and hubby imitation bacon.

What was your first 'job'?
A waitress at Golden Corral

When was the last time you posted off a letter?
About two months ago. I really need to write my sister in law again.

How many shoes are in your closet?
10+ This includes hubby's shoes

What's in the back seat of your car?
Nothing hubby is very very anal about the car being clean

What decorates the walls in your work space?
My work space is my home, so it depends what room I am in.

One thing you do well.
Read. I am a reading fool. I love nothing more than a good book, a cold drink( Dr pepper or sweet tea), and a long hot bubble bath.

One thing you do NOT so well.
Keeping house, but I am better at it than I used to be, but that doesn't mean I like it any better.

What's your passion?
Capturing a moment in time with a camera. A moment that no one would remember if it wasn't for that picture.

One kind thing you did in the past week.
I helped a gentleman in the grocery store get what he needed out of the freezer. He was in one of those little carts and was having a hard time opening the door and getting out of the way of the door.

  1. If you had the choice to live any where in the world and money was no problem where would you live?
  2. How do you take time for yourself when you need to recharge your batteries?
  3. What is your biggest accomplishment in your life so far?
  4. What is your favorite movie?
  5. What is your biggest pet peeve?
  6. Who was the biggest influence in your life and did you tell them the impact they had on your life?
  7. Do you believe in ghosts?
  8. Where would you love to visit, but hate to live?
  9. Do you prefer a mechanical pencil or a standard #2?
  10. What is your lest favorite color?
  11. Do you know where you are going when you die, and how do you know?

Welcome

I want to welcome all of you to my new blog. I decided I wanted a pretty blog and I could not see paying for it on the other site. I was so excited when I found the converter to export my old posts to Blogger! I am not quite sure how to do extra pages, but when I figure that out my Scripture From Memory and my 2009 goals will be added. I am so glad you found me. Enjoy.

2008......What a Ride it has Been.....Happy 2009

I was sitting here feeling sorry for myself because Steve has to work tonight. When midnight hits I can only cuddle my Princess. If she is not already asleep. I got to thinking about it and I have nothing to feel sorry for myself about. 2008 has been a great year.

  • We got our own home, when so many people are losing theirs.

  • We have not lost one person in our family.

  • My Dad made it through another year, there was a point where we were not sure if he would make it through 2007.

  • Steve has finally found a good job that he likes. It took a couple of tries, but he is now a happy little camper.

  • We have gotten right with the Lord.

  • We got to see an African American elected president. I may not agree with his politics, but he is still a history making president.

  • Gas prices soared to new heights then dropped like a rock.( Thank You Lord)

  • We have found a church family that is awesome.

  • Steve and I's relationship is stronger and we are closer than we have ever been.

  • Mom and Dad living here and no major problems.( Thank You Lord)

  • We found our missing niece, who has had 2 boys in her years being away from the family.

Yes we have had our downs, but are highs outweigh those by so much

  • Mom winding up in the hospital 2 times.

  • Being thrown out of our duplex because it was foreclosed on. (That was how we started the new year)(Mind you we were renters!!)

  • Patty ending up in the hospital.

  • Steve being fired twice and quitting 2 other jobs.

Really those are all I can think of. Like I said the good more than out weighs the bad. I hope you all have a wonderful new year and please be safe. May God bless all of you this year. Here's to a great, safe, happy, healthy, and spiritual 2009!!!

The Mess of Life

Sorry about not posting in the last couple of weeks, but our Internet got turned off at the very end of October. That tends to happen when you do not have the money to pay the bill. Now it is back on, I have a way to vent again! Yahoo!!!

What a month November has been so far, I can not wait to see what is coming next. Let me see, where do I start? Mom and Dad's truck died at my Mother in Laws house. They just got it back two days ago. The fuel pump went out (really it just died). It was $607.00 to fix the truck. OUCH!!!! The guy who works on our vehicles is really nice and worked out a payment plan with Dad which was pretty cool. Then a true blessing from God above came, our Pastor paid half of the bill for us. I am so amazed at this church. The people just blow my mind with how kind and compassionate they are.

Last Tuesday night Dad took Mom to the E.R. Her side was hurting and it got so bad it was hard for her to move and anytime she ate her stomach would goes nuts shooting pains everywhere. Well they kept her. Turned out she had a bowel obstruction. They waited for a bit to see if it would clear up on its own, but on Wednesday they did another set of x rays and noticed that the obstruction had grown much bigger since the night before.  She had surgery Wednesday afternoon. Our Pastor stayed with us until her surgery was over. Again, this church blows my mind! She is still in the hospital a week later. We think the doctor is going to let her come home tomorrow hopefully. It is really weird her not being around the house.

The choir for church is putting together a Christmas show called Heaven Touches Earth. It is about the Jesus being born and the events leading up to his birth and afterward. It is really neat and the songs are just beautiful, but our drama people are having a hard time showing up and keeping their commitments to the show. Steve has just taken over a part in the show. He is nervous but he will be great.

Steve has renewed his commitment to serving the Lord. I have a new husband. I have a head, and I am learning to be submissive. It really is hard to just let go of control. I am so very proud of him. He is going to drive the church van to pick up kids and families that do not have a way to get to church. He leads me in prayer and in studying.  We have both cleaned out what cds we have, we have cleaned up our mouths, we started going to Sunday School, and on Wednesday nights we are both involved in Awanas. I have a group of 5 girls that report to me. They work on memorizing God's Word during the week then they have to recite it to me. They get rewards as they go through their sections. Steve helps out with the boys, but they are not broken down into groups like the girls are.

I got baptized on Nov 2. It was a neat day.

Oh Well I am tired so I am going to bed. Good Night and God Bless You all

Gas Prices, A Date with the Hubby, and our New pets

WOW oh WOW!!!! We went by Wally World earlier this afternoon and gas was at $3.14(which was down from last night by about 10 cents) After our movie we went back to Wally World to get some stuff and gas was at are you ready for this.....it was at $2.99!!! Under 3 dollars yippee!!!! Then we got out of Wally World and noticed in the 30 mins we were inside gas had fallen again to $2.97. Holy Moly people. This makes me excited!!!!

Anywayz......Steve called me this morning and told me to not eat anything cause he is taking me out. We had such a great time. We went and had our favorite restaurant Mexican Inn. Then he took me to Half Price Books. I got a Jodi Picoult book called Keeping Faith. She is a wonderful author. I also got a Janet Evanovich book called Plum Lucky. This author is so darned funny!!! There are not many books that really make me laugh out loud but hers do. After that we went to the movies. We saw Fireproof. If this movie is in your theater go see it. Take your spouse. It is about a married couple fixing to get a divorce and the husband takes what is called a love dare and it last 40 days. It ends up saving their marriage. This movie is not getting a lot of advertisement because it is a Christian movie so go see it then tell a friend. NO cussing, no sex it is very family friendly with older kids. It is a great movie!!!!

A couple of weeks ago Steve's Mom gave us a 55 gallon fish tank. Well we got some fishies for it. I think we have 8 fishies so far. Fish are cool!!!!!

Stuff and Stuff

A lot has been going on lately. Today I am going to a funeral. My Sister-in-law's (my brother's wife) Mother died. She was diagnosed with lung cancer just after my Dad was diagnosed. Her cancer was the much more aggressive type. Ricke( my Brother), called us Monday that she had been put into hospice and was given a week to live. He called back on Wednesday to say she had passed away. We will also going to see my Paw Paw since we are in the area.

My nephew William broke his wrist in football practice on Tuesday. He is very upset that he will not get to play until it has healed. He just started playing in a new position. He now plays offence. I think he said he was playing half back. His coach told him William you are not the truck driver, you are the truck. Go run people over. You have to understand William is in the 7th grade and is not quite 14 yet, but he is over 6ft tall and weighs 220 lbs. He is not fat either he is solid. He looks like an senior in high school. His brother Scott started high school this year and they were walking around during registration and the high school cheerleaders were trying to get him to do something with them. If only they knew they were hitting on a seventh grader.

william That is William with his Mom. This picture was taken two years ago. I know its shameful I do not have a more recent picture of the boy. His team had just won the the league championship.

Steve's new job is going good. He just started getting on the road this last week. He has lots of training to complete along with the hurricane that hit Houston. That is is daily route.

We have started going to a church near the house. It is a great church. They do not preach watered down scripture.  The people are real nice and the pastor is very friendly. He stopped by the house Tuesday night to get to know us a little better. We are going to become members of the church.

Cookies and the Cookie Monsters

I baked homemade chocolate chips cookies Monday. I ended up with over 4 dozen cookies. That is a lot of cookies people.  They were moist and yummy. They fell apart in your mouth, they were so freakin good!!!!! They are gone, gone I tell you. I did not realize that there were so many cookie monsters in my family. I am a cookie monster, so is my Dad, my Mom, and my husband. I sent some over to my Mother in laws house and they are also cookie monsters. It is hard to believe that over 48 cookies are gone in 2 days. I have been meaning to make these cookies for my neighbors as a thank you for the warm welcome to the neighborhood, but it looks like I am going to have to make another batch. I did not even get a picture of these so delicious cookies. This picture is from the first time I made them. Do they not look yummy???

Fear

I am letting fear rule my life. God did not give us a spirit of fear. It comes from the devil trying to stop you from becoming what God meant for you to become. Everything I am not doing is in fear. My fear of driving, my fear of going back to school, my fear of doing something with my life and it being wrong. So I sit and do nothing.

I have God on my

side, I shall fear no

more!!!!!

I was watching Enjoying Everyday Life, it is Joyce Meyer's program. The message was about being bold. Something I was years ago. I let fear take away the last 8 years. No more fear.

My life is changing

and I am handing

control to God!!!!!! I

shall not fear

anymore!!!!!!!!!!!

Daily Devotion------Don't Avoid Hard Work

For the time being no discipline brings joy, but seem grievous and painful; but afterwards it yields a peaceable fruit of righteousness to those who have been trained by it [a harvest of fruit which consists in righteousness- in conformity to God's will in purpose, thought, and action, resulting in right living and right standing in God].

                                                            Hebrews 12:11

An undisciplined person looks for ways to avoid hard work. Passivity prevails in our culture; everything is geared to making life easier: ride the escalator, take the elevator, get fast food carry out. But the easy way is not always the best way.

Just as we need to exercise our bodies, so we need to exercise our faith by facing difficult challenges. Use faith to forgive others who offend you and to trust God when you can't see how problems will be solved. Soon you will enjoy a harvest of righteousness from the discipline you endure today.
